PostSubject: Choreography   Tue Jul 28, 2009 3:06 pm

I have been hearing so much about how choreography lately but I wonder how many gyms are actually complete choreography or have started yet. Many gyms have athletes who have discussed that summer is not mandatory or that it is not "set in stone" practices, so how does this help/hurt the choreography process?

My opinion is that choreography in mid-summer allows you the greatest amount of time to work and re-work your skills. If you have a routine, then you can focus on increasing the skill set (tumbling, stunt difficulty, etc.). If you don't have solid practices in the summer months, is it possible to have a strong routine by the early fall?

We don't have choreo until September. It is definitely a different experience. We are accustomed to having routine week during the summer. The choreo for each of Jaycie's teams will be on a Saturday from 10-5. After watching them teach a routine in 2 hours though for the baseball game, I'm not worried.

Right now practices are focusing entirely on skills. I think that by the time choreo gets here all they will need to do is plug in the skills they have mastered.

We also don't compete until November. And I'll let you know how it goes.
